Modern kitchens are designed for tall people. Everyone else improvises.

Cabinets keep getting taller

Ceiling-height uppers maximize storage but put half of it out of reach for most adults and all children.

Step stools are a hazard

Left out, they trip people. Stored away, nobody bothers to grab them. Chairs become the dangerous default.

Existing solutions miss the mark

Toe-kick steps add 4 inches. Between-cabinet slivers need specific layouts. None use the space you already have.

How It Works

Three seconds. Three steps. That's it.

TuckStep occupies the narrow space inside an existing base cabinet. No remodeling. No special tools. Just pull, step, and tuck.

Step 01

Pull

Grab the integrated handle on the cabinet face. The TuckStep unit glides out on soft-close drawer slides.

Step 02

Step Up

The multi-step ladder unfolds automatically, locking into place with a satisfying click. A built-in rail gives you a grip.

Step 03

Tuck Away

Fold it down and slide it back in. It disappears completely, flush with the cabinet face. Out of sight, out of the way.

Pull the Handle

Smooth, silent drawer slides glide TuckStep out from the cabinet

Step Up Safely

Auto-locking mechanism holds 300 lbs with built-in grip rail

Tuck It Back

Folds flat and slides back in. Completely flush with the cabinet face

Engineered for real kitchens, real families.

Every detail designed for safety, durability, and seamless integration with standard kitchen cabinetry.

Fits Standard Cabinets

Designed to retrofit into standard 12", 15", or 18" wide base cabinets without modification.

300 lb Weight Capacity

Steel frame with hardwood treads. Built for adults, safe for kids, trusted by families.

Soft-Close Hardware

Full-extension, soft-close drawer slides for silent, smooth operation every single time.

Child Safety Lock

Integrated lock prevents little hands from deploying the steps unsupervised.

Non-Slip Treads

Textured hardwood treads with anti-slip coating for secure footing, even with socks.

Auto-Lock Mechanism

Spring-loaded locking system engages automatically when fully unfolded. Audible click confirms it's locked.

FAQ

Everything you need to know.

How long does installation take?

+

About 45 minutes for a complete DIY install. That breaks down to measuring and marking (5 min), mounting the drawer slides (25 min), sliding the unit in (5 min), and testing (5 min). Most homeowners finish in under an hour on their first try.

What tools do I need?

+

Just four basic tools: a Phillips screwdriver (or drill with Phillips bit), a level, a tape measure, and a pencil. No special tools, no jigsaw, no router. Everything else you need — screws, mounting template, and installation guide — is included in the box.

Can I install it myself, or do I need a professional?

+

If you can mount a drawer slide, you can install TuckStep. It's designed as a true DIY project — no cutting, no drilling through cabinet panels, no permanent modifications. We include a step-by-step guide with photos. That said, any contractor or handyman can install it in about 25 minutes.

Will installation damage my cabinets?

+

No. TuckStep mounts to the interior side walls of the cabinet using standard screw holes — the same way any drawer slide mounts. There's no cutting, routing, or permanent modification. If you ever remove TuckStep, you'll have a few small screw holes that are invisible inside the cabinet.

How much weight can it hold?

+

The 15" and 18" models support up to 300 lbs. The compact 12" model supports up to 250 lbs. The powder-coated steel frame and solid hardwood treads are tested well beyond these ratings for safety margins.

What are the exact dimensions?

+

All three models are 22" deep and 6" tall when stored. The 12" model needs 11.5" of cabinet opening width with 10" wide treads. The 15" model needs 14.5" with 13" treads. The 18" model needs 17.5" with 16" treads. Deployed step height is 10" across all models. Check the Specs section for the full comparison table.

What materials is TuckStep made from?

+

The frame is powder-coated steel for durability and corrosion resistance. Treads are solid hardwood with a non-slip textured coating. Slides are full-extension, soft-close ball-bearing drawer slides. The locking mechanism is hardened steel with a spring-loaded auto-engage.

What finishes are available?

+

The frame comes in matte black or brushed nickel. Treads are available in natural oak, walnut, and white oak finishes. For trade professionals, we offer custom finish matching — contact us with your cabinet specs and we'll match your hardware.

Is it safe for children?

+

TuckStep includes an integrated child safety lock that prevents the unit from deploying without an adult releasing the mechanism. When deployed, the auto-lock holds the steps firmly in place with an audible click. Children should always be supervised when using any step ladder.

What are the current lead times?

+

We're currently accepting pre-orders for our first production run. Estimated ship date is 8–12 weeks from order confirmation. Waitlist members get priority — sign up to lock in your spot and pre-order pricing.

How does shipping work?

+

TuckStep ships flat-packed via ground shipping. Free shipping within the continental US. The package weighs 16–25 lbs depending on model size. We ship with UPS or FedEx Ground, and you'll receive tracking once it dispatches. Typical transit is 3–7 business days.

What's the warranty and return policy?

+

Every TuckStep comes with a 5-year limited warranty covering the frame, slides, and locking mechanism. Hardwood treads are warranted for 3 years against defects. If something breaks under normal use, we'll replace it free of charge. Returns accepted within 30 days of delivery — just reach out to our team.

Do you offer trade pricing for professionals?

+

Yes. We offer volume pricing for kitchen designers, contractors, cabinet makers, and builders. Fill out the contact form with your professional role and we'll send trade pricing within 24 hours. Multi-unit orders get additional discounts.

Which cabinet sizes work with TuckStep?

+

TuckStep fits standard base cabinets in 12", 15", and 18" widths. You need a minimum interior depth of 22" and at least 6" of vertical clearance at the bottom of the cabinet. Most standard American kitchen base cabinets (from manufacturers like KraftMaid, Merillat, Ikea, etc.) meet these requirements.

Can I retrofit it into existing cabinets?

+

Absolutely — that's the whole point. TuckStep was designed for retrofit. It mounts inside your existing base cabinet without any cutting, routing, or structural changes. If your cabinet meets the size requirements, it's compatible. No need to wait for a kitchen remodel.

Does it work with frameless (European-style) cabinets?

+

Yes. TuckStep works with both face-frame (American-style) and frameless (European-style) cabinets. The mounting template adjusts for both configurations. The only requirement is the minimum interior dimensions: 22" depth and matching width for your chosen model size.

Can I use it in bathroom or laundry room cabinets?

+

Yes! While we designed TuckStep for kitchens, it works in any base cabinet that meets the size requirements. Bathroom vanities, laundry room cabinets, garage workbenches — anywhere you need a step up to reach high storage. The powder-coated steel frame handles moisture well.

What if my cabinet is a non-standard size?

+

For cabinet widths between our standard sizes, go with the smaller model that fits. For truly custom sizes, contact us — we offer custom sizing for trade professionals and can work with you on a solution. OEM partnerships are available for cabinet manufacturers.
